Alan Payne has had another sighting of GBBGull P:46A on the 27th May near to Looe Cornwall at Downderry still in the same area as the day before.

Herring Gull 635 ringed June 2016 on the Break Water previously seen on the Axe Estuary Devon by Ian McLean was sighted at Lodmoor RSPB Reserve Weymouth 22nd May in the Gull roost not far from its fledging site.

Ian McLean sent in his weekly list of our Gulls from the Axe Estuary GBBGull P:64B seen 27th May a regular on the Axe and a GBBG ringed by us last June but has a Herring Gull Darvic B/W 626 seen also on the 27th May.

Even with the best efforts with these large Gulls, errors do occur but they are extremely rare. There is a 0.5mm difference in the inner diameter of the rings.

Saturday 27 May 2017

Two GBBGull's sat on roof in Seaton Cornwall may not seem very exciting, but to our fledgling Gull project ( now in its 7th year with Herring Gull's and 6th year with GBBGull's ) it possibly is.

Why possibly?

It is the first sighting we have received to date seen on 26th May 2017, of two Gull's giving the observer Alan Payne the impression they are a pair.

Our Gull P:46A ringed June 2012, so now an adult appeared smaller than the accompanying Gull, hopefully a Male.

P:46A has been sighted in this area of Cornwall along with one sighting in Guernsey, several times since fledging.

Tuesday 23 May 2017

A quiet week on the Axe Estuary in Devon for sightings of our Gulls. Ian McLean had one sighting for us Herring Gull 640 on the 17th May, third visit this year.

Quite a few regular GBBG visitors to the Axe missing during the week, must be visiting new areas.

Tom reports it regularly visits his boat, an open Bait box is obviously attractive !

Luke (team member) sighted P:01A back in Jan 2017 at Radipole Lake Weymouth, on the 2nd May 2017 Luke again sighted P:01A at Radipole Lake. Ringed June 2012 at the start of our c-r GBBGull's it has only been seen at Radipole with the exception of one sighting in 2015 when it was back on the Portland Break Waters. Where does it go in between sightings ????
